Durante el año 2025, las importaciones de chocolate y demás preparaciones alimenticias que contengan cacao (HTS 1806) en Puerto Rico mostraron una tendencia creciente durante la segunda mitad del año. A partir de julio, cuando se registraron $8.5 millones, el valor de las importaciones aumentó progresivamente, alcanzando $9.2 millones en agosto, $10.5 millones en septiembre y un máximo de $12.5 millones en octubre. Este comportamiento coincide con el periodo previo a las festividades de Halloween, cuando estos productos suelen tener una mayor presencia en el mercado.
Las estadísticas de comercio exterior permiten conocer el comportamiento de los bienes que ingresan a Puerto Rico, identificar tendencias y analizar sus países de origen. Estos datos ayudan a las empresas a planificar sus operaciones, anticipar cambios en el mercado e identificar oportunidades de negocio a partir del comportamiento de las importaciones.

To amend articles 1.3, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 of Law 120-2014, known as the “Incentives Act for the Generation and Retention of Jobs in SMEs”, in order to expand the categories of Eligible Expansion SMEs and Eligible SMEs with Net Operating Losses to those companies that have started operations after January 1, 2014 and to temper the partial reimbursement of salaries to the new state minimum wage established by Law 47-2021; add a new article 2.7 to Law 120-2014, known as the “Incentives Act for the Generation and Retention of Jobs in SMEs”, for the purpose of requiring an Annual Performance Report on the provisions of the Act; to amend Section 12-B of Law No. 72 of June 21, 1956, known as the Puerto Rico Employment Security Act, as amended, to clarify the source of funding for partial wage reimbursement; and for other related purposes.

To create the “Protocol Act for the Determination of the Cause and Manner of Deaths Related to Natural Disasters or Catastrophic Events”, for the purpose of adopting a protocol for determining the cause and manner of death in cases where environmental factors related to a natural disaster or a catastrophic event contribute to the death of a person; to provide for mechanisms for collecting information on deaths related to natural disasters or catastrophic events; for the creation of a Committee Interagency for Official Disclosure of Information on Statistical Data on Deaths Related to Natural Disasters or Catastrophic Events; and for other related purposes.

The Puerto Rico Statistics Institute is successfully complying with the “Protocol for Suicide Prevention”
On January 12 of this year, the Commission for Suicide Prevention (Department of Health) certified that the Puerto Rico Statistics Institute met all the requirements regarding the creation and implementation of a “Protocol for Suicide Prevention” in the agency.
The Institute is part of the 52 agencies or entities of the Executive Branch (out of a total of 121) that complied with this protocol.
