The Puerto Rico Statistics Institute, in compliance with Law No. 141-2019 “Transparency and Expedited Procedure Act for Access to Public Information”, and with the public policy of the Government of Puerto Rico, facilitates access and disclosure of public information. This is due to the fact that access to public information is a constitutional pillar and a fundamental human right. The information and documentation produced by the government is presumed to be public and accessible to all people equally, however, the disclosure of the information will be subject to applicable rules and exceptions.
Law 141 establishes a uniform procedure for obtaining public information that is generated or stored in government entities. To this end, the statute empowers each agency to appoint at least three (3) public servants who will serve as Information Officers and will be responsible for receiving requests for information, processing them and facilitating access to documents, within the established deadline. The Information Officers of the Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics will provide monthly reports on the number of requests received, type of information requested and status of the information requested. The reports will be published in this section under “Information Act 141 Transparency Act”.
Those interested in requesting a request for information through Act No. 141-2019, known as the Transparency and Expedited Procedure for Access to Public Information Act (Transparency Act), can write to the Information Officers:
