Who we are

We are an autonomous entity of the Executive Branch of Puerto Rico, dedicated to the production, analysis and dissemination of quality statistics that serve as a basis for decision-making in the public, private and academic sectors. The institution is structured to ensure effective governance and efficient operations.

2003
Creation by law
The Organic Law of the Institute (Act No. 209) was approved on August 28, 2003.
2005
Start of meetings
The meetings of the Board of Directors began.
2007
Formal operations
The Institute formally began operating on August 1, 2007.

Orville M. Disdier Flores
Specialist
Epidemiologist, educator, leadership expert and data scientist. Professional known for his work in statistical research and actively promoting research in Puerto Rico. In addition, he is the author of numerous research papers, statistical reports, newspaper articles and opinion columns. He has been a visiting professor at several universities in Puerto Rico at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
