It statistically describes the provision of health services offered to the confined during the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Health services are offered to the inmate from the moment they enter the Correctional System. After being placed in living areas, the confined can access outpatient health services, including general medicine services, internal medicine for chronic conditions, dental and mental health services. Another model was the psychiatric evaluation and treatment service through the telepsychiatry system. On the other hand, considering the need to address the health problems caused by the withdrawal to the use of addictive substances faced by many of those confined during their admission to the system, CHSC implemented the concept of outpatient detoxification that offers this service through three units located in the Correctional Complexes of Bayamón, Guerrero and Ponce.
As part of the service delivery processes, the Correctional Health Program's Annual Statistical Report aims to:
1) Statistically describe the movement of health services offered to the criminal population under the custody of the Department of Corrections.
2) Establish the movement patterns of health services according to descriptive and inferential statistics.
3) Describe the prevalence, incidence and mobility of the most common diseases in the correctional system.
4) Analyze service needs according to the volume and frequency of services provided.
