Objective:

Provide a unified and accurate assessment of drought conditions to guide decision-making in critical sectors such as agriculture and water management, in addition to serving as a trigger for disaster declarations and eligibility for federal loans (USDA).

Main Variables
drought (D0-Abnormally dry, D1-Moderate, D2-Severe, D3-Extreme, D4-Exceptional), time scale (S-Short Term/Agriculture, L-Long Term/Hydrology), Standard Precipitation Index (SPI), soil moisture, reservoir levels and river flows.

Farmers, ranchers, water resource managers, emergency management agencies, government planners, and the general public of the archipelago of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
