This report presents the evaluation of water bodies in Puerto Rico, in compliance with Section 305 (b) and 303 (d) of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA). For this evaluation, the data obtained from the monitoring networks that exist across the island are used. In places where there are no monitoring stations, the evaluation is made using inventories of potential sources of contamination, complaints received, events that occurred and the best professional judgment of the staff, among others. In addition, you will find all the water bodies with their respective evaluation, including potential sources of contamination and parameters that exceed standards depending on each case.
Inform federal and state agencies and the general public about the compliance of Puerto Rico's water resources with applicable quality standards to achieve designated uses, as established by the Water Quality Standards Regulation (RECA), under the Federal Clean Water Act. Under section 305 (b) of this legislation, information is presented on all of Puerto Rico's water resources, and under section 303 (d), the list of impacted bodies of water that do not meet applicable standards is presented.
