Institute presents Demographic and Economic Indicators

Experts from the Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics made a presentation to the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Cooperative Bank.

Dr. Ronald Hernández Maldonado and Mr. Alberto L. Velázquez Estrada presented updated information on sociodemographic and economic indicators.

Considering Puerto Rico's statistical information is vital in planning and decision-making in public and private entities.

Mes de la manufactura: Empleo

El empleo en el sector manufacturero de Puerto Rico

En conmemoración del Mes de la Manufactura, el Instituto de Estadísticas de Puerto Rico destaca la importancia de este sector para la actividad económica y la generación de empleos en Puerto Rico. La manufactura representa una de las principales actividades productivas, con presencia en diversas industrias, como la farmacéutica, los dispositivos médicos, la aeroespacial y la producción de alimentos, entre otras.

Según los datos del Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) del Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), el sector manufacturero registró 78,119* empleos en marzo de 2026. Esta cifra permite conocer la participación del sector en el mercado laboral y resalta la importancia de contar con estadísticas oficiales para analizar su evolución y contribución a la economía de Puerto Rico.

In this new episode, Dr. Idania Rodríguez Ayuso, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute, discusses “The Silence That Precedes Homicide,” as part of the Collective Action for Violence Prevention in Puerto Rico Symposium.

In the second half of 2024, 2,149 domestic violence cases were evaluated in Puerto Rico. The statistic is devastating: 1 in 4 complainants faces an imminent risk of death. Risk assessment is not just a protocol; it is the bridge between a complaint and a protected life. Identifying lethality before it occurs is our collective mission.
